Presentations & Slide Design

The speaker and the signboard, the 6-by-6 rule, contrast, layouts and aspect ratio.

By the end, you will be able to:

  • Explain that slides support the speaker rather than replace them, and use the words slide, slide deck, placeholder and speaker notes.
  • Apply the 6-by-6 rule and choose a high-contrast colour scheme.
  • Build a 3-slide deck (Title, Problem, Solution), resize a picture from a corner handle, run it with F5 and save it.

Follow these steps in order

Tick each step when you finish it. Your ticks are saved on this device, so you can stop and come back later.

  2. Explore the 3D lab ⏱️ 15 min

Play with the 3D model below. The 🎯 missions tell you exactly what to do next. When you finish every mission, this step ticks itself.

Storyboard (Page 6): open task. Look for: a title and name on slide 1; a problem slide and a solution slide with short bullets (6 words or fewer each), e.g. "Rubbish blocks school gutters" and "Place bins in every block".

    Written Review Questions

    1. Part 1 (Bullets): no more than 6 bullet points on a slide. Part 2 (Words): no more than 6 words in each bullet.
    2. Corner handles keep the picture's natural proportions (aspect ratio). Side handles stretch or squash it so it looks deformed. Look for: "keeps its shape".
    3. The F5 key.
  5. Rate yourself and save your work ⏱️ 5 min

Tick how confident you feel on the last page, then press 🖨 Print / Save as PDF in the workbook to keep a copy. On a shared computer, press Clear my answers when you have saved it.

🎤 Slide Design & Show Time

Fix a badly designed deck (contrast, the 6-by-6 rule, a squished picture, carnival animations), then present it in a 3D classroom with real slide-show keys. Follow the 🎯 missions on the right: they tell you what to do next.

Stuck? Try this

📖 Read it again, slowly

Most problems are one missed word. Look for the Panic Button or Help box in the workbook.

🧊 The 3D lab won't load?

Refresh the page. On a very old computer it may not show 3D. The workbook still has everything you need.

💾 My answers disappeared?

Answers save on the computer you typed them on. Open the workbook on that same computer and browser.

🤝 Still stuck?

Ask your mentor, a teacher or a friend. Show them the step number you are on.
